We had a family reunion July 4th through July 6th. We started out the fourth with a pancake breakfast. Sourdough pancakes, bacon, sausage and juice were on the menu.
The children had a scavenger hunt, for a treasure chest. When the chest was found, it was opened, and in were squirt guns, frizbes, a water slide, and a pinata. Each of the children took turns hitting at the pinata. Finally it was broke open by Valette. All the children scrambled to see who could pick up the most candy.
In the evening we all went to Grandma Lanora's for a picnic and fireworks. We all had a great time.
On Saturday we started out the day with breakfast served by Eric, Suzy and their family. We enjoyed biscuits cooked in a dutch oven, gravy, bacon, eggs, and fried potatoes with onions. Biscuits and gravy are one of Eric's favorite things to eat. He and Suzy have cooking them down to a fine art. Mmmmmm! Mmmmmm! they were good!!
After we cleaned up from breakfast, we all loaded in the pick-ups, and headed to the clay caves. The clay caves are in the desert close to Eden. Allen's grandfather use to live near them. That is how Allen and his family found out about the caves. The cave is about a fourth of a mile in length. Everyone was adventurous, and enjoyed the hike very much. When we go to the end of the cave, everyone turned out their flash lights. It is very dark without any lights shinning. (It reminded me of the Book of Mormon story about the three days of darkness that covered the land when our savior was crucified.) We all hiked back out to the entrance of the cave. I was lucky, I only fell down once. When we got to the entrance, we took pictures of each family. We then headed for our house, for games, and naps for those who felt the need.
Some of the children swam in the pool, others played on the slip'n'slide. Connor was like a little fish, he wanted to stay in the water all the time. The pool is not heated, so the water was quite cool. Connor loved it regardless of the cool temperature. Jenny loved it almost as much as Connor.
